I re-install my Vista workstation, only to find that faxing via Hylafax didn’t work anymore.
After much debugging, I realized that I’m dealing with the same problem I noticed a year ago, when asking about it in hylafax mailing list.
The problem is that my Vista driver didn’t generate a postscript file tasty enough for HylaFax to consume. So, it dialed and just before sending it, it simply hanged up, without any explanation.
So, here goes, an advice for the younger generation:
When in Vista, don’t use the recommended by Hylafax Postscript drivers. These are my test results:
HP 4/4M Postscript driver: Doesn’t work
HP LaserJet 5200 PS: Doesn’t work
Xerox DocuPrint 135 EPS PS3: Works
The weirdest thing is that I forgot I solved it then and fell into the same problem again.
Old age… Dammit!

Thanks, we have been looking for a driver for Vista to work with Hylafax. XP we were using Apple LaserWriter II and it was fine. Vista is so stupid. Cheers dude.
